Coors Credit Union is undergoing some exciting changes! Six decades ago, we were born to serve the employees of Coors Brewery. Today we serve people in Jefferson County and beyond; so, to be more inclusive while preserving our heritage, we are changing our name to On Tap Credit Union. Just like our historic brewery namesake, we will continue to share the same dedication to quality, attention to detail and commitment to the communities in which we live.

You may be interested to know that over the years, many people wished they could become members of our credit union, but thought they had to be a Coors employee to join. Although this was not the case, our Board of Directors saw this mistaken perception as an impediment to our future growth, our ability to embrace new members and survive in a competitive marketplace. After a great deal of consideration, our Board and executive management team made the decision to change our name. 

We can assure you that what won’t change is our commitment to you. Your loyalty has enabled this exciting journey.  We also won’t change our branded credit and debit cards from MillerCoors®, AC Golden Brewing Company™ and Blue Moon® Brewing Company. We will proudly continue to offer Coors® Banquet, Coors® Light, Colorado Native® and Blue Moon® cards.

Effective February 4, 2017, our name will become On Tap Credit Union. This date is exactly 63 years from the day we were chartered and held our first organizational meeting with 30 members at the brewery in Golden.  Today we are 20,000 members strong. Our growth has been fueled by your families, friends and the new communities we serve in Jefferson, Denver, Boulder and Larimer counties.

We will begin right away to unveil our new logo and key messages to our employees, our members, and stakeholders in the communities we serve. By the end of March 2017, On Tap Credit Union will appear on correspondence, signs, and marketing materials. To help us maintain smooth business operations, we will continue to hold the right to do business as (d.b.a.) Coors Credit Union. You will see both the On Tap Credit Union logo and the Coors Credit Union logo for a period of time in print, on the website and in the Arvada and Golden branches as we begin our transition. 

As we move forward, we will continue to do what we have done since we first opened our doors: we will craft individual banking solutions just for you, helping you build wealth and secure your financial future.  With our state-of-the-art online banking and mobile banking, and plans for new locations, services and solutions, our credit union will serve you and like-minded people in search of meaningful financial guidance.

It is important for you to know that no action on your part is required. All the products and services you use on a daily basis will work as they always have. Your account information will remain the same, and our employees will provide you, our member-owners, the same exceptional service. In the coming months, new checks and credit cards will be updated automatically when you order.

When will the name change take effect?
We will officially change our name to On Tap Credit Union™ effective February 4, 2017.

Over the course of the next few months, you will see many gradual changes related to our official correspondence and signs.  To help up maintain smooth business operations we continue to hold the right to do business as (d.b.a) Coors® Credit Union. Your paperwork may reflect Coors® Credit Union throughout our phased approach to changing our name to On Tap Credit Union™.

What should you expect?
No action on your part is required.  All products and services will work as they always have.  Account information will remain the same.  In the coming months, new checks and credit cards will be updated automatically when they are reordered.  

What else will change?
We can assure you that what won’t change is our commitment to you.  Your loyalty has enabled this exciting journey.  We also won’t change our branded credit and debit cards from MillerCoors®, AC Golden Brewing Company™ and Blue Moon® Brewing Company.  We will proudly continue to offer Coors ® Light, Colorado Native® and Blue Moon® cards.

Is the name changing as a result of a merger or acquisition?
No. Changing our name is not the result of a buyout or a merger. Our members are our only owners. The credit union will continue to operate in exactly the same way, under the same Board of Directors and staff members whom you have come to know and trust.

Why On Tap Credit Union™?
On Tap Credit Union™ is a name that embraces our beer heritage and the Colorado outdoor lifestyle.  On Tap™ denotes a readiness to serve our members with our special brand of expert financial guidance.  We work proudly every day to help members craft their individual paths to financial success.

Is the credit union in financial trouble?
No! We are the same credit union with the same employees and board members as before but with a new name.  Our capital remains strong at 11.50% and growing.  The decision to change our name is to promote our growth and continue to offer members the best in products, services, rates and fees.

Is my money still safe?
Most definitely!  Your money in this Top 200 Healthiest Credit Union in the country remains secure.  In addition, members are federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. Please see a financial advocate on how to maximize coverage for your account(s).

Who determined the need for a name change?
Your Board of Directors, along with the executive leadership, saw greater importance in changing the credit union name to a name with a broader appeal in order to thrive in a competitive marketplace.   After extensive research over the past three years, the Board of Directors voted unanimously on the name On Tap Credit Union™. 

How can I get a seat on the board?

Wait, I love the current name!
We completely understand! We know many of our members are very proud and attached to our name. After all, some of our current members joined over 63 years ago! We are not losing our history.  In fact, we are embracing our beer heritage while positioning ourselves to be more inclusive so we can thrive.

Are you still affiliated with MillerCoors?
Absolutely!  The credit union will still serve current and retired Coors® employees and their families and friends as a select employee group.  We will also serve MillerCoors contractors, Molson Coors employees, CoorsTek employees, Coors Distributing Company (CDC) employees and Terumo BCT employees, just to name a few.  Serving the financial needs of these employees, their families and friends will remain a strong focus of your credit union.

How do beer and finances mix?
What we have “On Tap” is our talent! which is supported by excellent products, outstanding service and expert financial guidance.  This is combined with a unique branch experience that celebrates our shared connection with beer, hospitality and an authentic Colorado outdoor lifestyle.

Transactions

Will my account numbers change?
Your account number(s) will stay the same.  Please continue to use your current Coors® Credit Union checks, debit card, ATM card, loan payment coupons and/or Visa credit card until they expire or until it's time to re-order. On Tap Credit Union™ will appear on any future checks, cards, etc. that you order.

Will my direct deposit and automatic electronic transfers need to be changed or updated?  Do I need to contact my employer and/or company associated with these transfers?
Direct deposits and electronic transfers are sent to the credit union using our routing number - which will remain the same - and your account number - which will remain the same - so there’s nothing to change or update.

Do I need to notify payees of the change if I’m set up on bill payment or various other automatic payment solutions?
No. You may conduct your online bill payment transactions as usual. Any automatic payments you have set up will process as usual.

Can I still deposit checks that are made payable to Coors® Credit Union? How long will you be able to accept these deposits?
Yes.  For the foreseeable future, we have reserved the right to continue to do business as (d.b.a.) Coors® Credit Union and can accept deposits in that name while in that business structure.

Will I need a new debit, credit, or ATM card?  Will my PIN change?
Your currents cards will continue to work as usual. In mid 2017, we will reissue VISA credit and VISA debit cards with new numbers.  These new designs that will embrace our Colorado and beer brewing heritage will also feature security chips and the ability to change your PIN.

Will I need new checks?  Can I use my old checks?
You may continue to use up your existing checks. Checks clear your account using the same routing number that is located on the bottom of your checks. Checks featuring Coors® Credit Union will continue to be accepted and clear just fine. When you order new checks they will reflect the name change to On Tap Credit Union™.

Can I still use Shared-Branches and CO-OP ATMs?
Yes. Our relationship is not changing with the service center network that allows the shared branches and free ATMs.


Online and Mobile Access

Will the website change?
The new URL is www.OnTapCU.org.  To ensure our members have access, either web address will direct you to the current website and On Tap Banking™. You will notice ongoing updates throughout 2017 to reflect the new name and brand. 

Will online banking and mobile banking change?  Will my login information change?
Your online and mobile banking will not be changing. Your login information will not be changing. 

Will I need to download a new app?
No.  Any updates will be pushed out automatically to you as an update through your app store.

Loans

Will I continue to have access to credit union financing when I visit an automobile dealership? 
Yes.  None of our relationships with any of our dealerships will be affected by this name change.  Your paperwork may reflect Coors® Credit Union throughout our phased approach to changing our name to On Tap Credit Union™.

How will fees, loan rate, and deposit rates be impacted by the name change?
Rates and fees will not be affected by these changes. We will continue to monitor our rates and fees as we always have. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to market conditions.

Will my credit report be affected by this name change?
Your credit score will not be affected by the name change.  Loans opened or closed prior to April 1, 2017 will continue to report as Coors® Credit Union.  Loans opened on or after April 1, 2017 will report as On Tap Credit Union™.

Do I need to make changes to my auto and property insurance?
No. We will continue to accept insurance coverage with Coors® Credit Union listed as the lien holder on existing loans. For future loans, please submit the following to your insurance provider for the lien holder clause:

Other

Will my statement change?
Your statement will continue to look the same through the March 2017 statement.  After that your statement will be redesigned to improve readability and reflect the look and feel of our new On Tap Credit Union™ brand.

Will my tax forms say Coors® Credit Union or On Tap Credit Union™?
Tax forms for 2016, mailed in 2017, will say Coors Credit Union.  Tax forms for 2017, mailed in 2018, will be updated to On Tap Credit Union™.

On Tap Credit Union is a not-for-profit cooperative owned by its members. Its Board of Directors is comprised of highly skilled business minded members who are compensated and elected to oversee the affairs of On Tap Credit Union. This oversight includes establishing policies, governing operations in alignment with the strategic direction and amending bylaws, to acting on decisions involving the membership, establishing which type of loans will be available to members, and determining interest rates on loans and deposits. The Board meets regularly in addition to participating in ongoing educational opportunities throughout the year.
